The letter predicts a decrease in birth rates, a greater number of marital breakups, and an increase in criminal activities, including abuse of women. The ruling sign of the year is Irete Otura, while the ruling deity is Elegbara, accompanied by Oyá. Here are excerpts:
As is traditional, the Ifá Priests issued the Letter of the Year 2024 on December 31, in which they draw attention to the growing increase in abuse of women and the abandonment of children. In addition, it warns of an increase in criminal activity, to which it adds the recommendation to “take precautions with belongings during domestic trips.”
The long-awaited compendium of forecasts and advice prepared by priests affiliated with the Yoruba Cultural Association of Cuba also recommends that the authorities increase “preventive work on the ingestion of alcoholic beverages and the consumption of narcotics in young people,” with particular interest in their consequences. In addition, it predicts “a decrease in the birth rate” and issues a warning about “the consumption of breaded or covered foods.”
Likewise, it predicts a greater number of marriage breakups by 2024. Consequently, he calls for “being respectful” of differences, “to avoid unnecessary conflicts and disagreements.”
The priests ask to “pay more attention to agricultural productivity and the use of the land,” while predicting diseases related to the skin and lower abdomen, in addition to others of a genetic nature such as Down Syndrome.
In the ceremony led by the Chief Priest Silvio Méndez González Awo Baba Osá Meyi, it was determined that the ruling sign of the year is Irete Otura, while the ruling deity is Elebara, accompanied by Oyá.
Meanwhile, among this year’s sayings, the priests included some such as “Ignorance makes a free man a slave” and “Mother is not only the one who gives birth, but also the one who raises.”
